LASER Therapy

A Laser emits a special form of light, consisting of light waves of a single wave length in which all the light waves reinforce one another. The term LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The therapeutic veterinary laser generates light at a wavelength of 904nm, which cannot be seen without special viewing equipment. Infrared laser energy has a stimulating effect on tissues because it increases cellular energy. Laser light energy is absorbed by the tissues, and stimulates their metabolic processes. Treatment is painless, and there is no increase in temperature from the laser in treated areas. Treatment time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Acupuncture points can also be stimulated using the laser. Laser therapy is beneficial in improving wound healing, increasing blood flow, and stimulating the release of the body's natural pain killing chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins.
